April Ross
April Ross is one of the few female beach volleyball stars to have medals won at several Olympics. In Tokyo during the coming days, she'll try to claim her third Olympic medal alongside fellow first-time Olympian Alix Klineman. More than that though Ross hopes to win their first Olympic gold. And at the age of 39 this may be her final chance to get it done. Nevertheless she is confident that top honours are on the horizon. Ross on NBC Boston, said that He was certain that we can get a gold medal when we play our best. Then I will also take some chances. Ross was born in 1982 in Costa Mesa California where she resided with her parents and sister. Ross competed in many sports during her time at Newport Harbor High School. In addition to indoor volleyball, she took part in track and basketball as professional athletes. She was evidently the best at the sport of indoor volleyball. In her time at high school, she played middle blocker outside hitter and setter on the volleyball court per her college bio. The award was presented to her as in the category of Gatorade National Circle of Champions Player of the year in 1999, for her performance. Also, she won the 2000 Orange County Athlete of the Year trophy for volleyball. Ross and Klineman have been continuing to play since 2017. However, Ross had already been a seasoned participant in the volleyball world prior to they formed the team. It's true that she has played a significant role on the beach for many years. In fact, Ross had won several championships, including one with an iconic volleyball player. She partnered up with Jennifer Kessy from 2007-2013, as well as serving as the Klineman's assistant and Kessy's coach. Kessy as well as Ross proved to be strong on the world of professional sports, winning an overall world title in 2009. They were awarded a silver medal during the 2012 Olympic Games held in London. Misty Maytreanor (Jennings) as well as Misty Maytreanor won gold, ahead of them. Ross Jennings was Walsh Jennings partner in fate when Maytreanor retired. They went on to get bronze in beach volleyball during the Rio Olympics in 2016. Ross was a student athlete at USC Trojans prior to beginning the start of her professional career. She played at high school and in some years prior to going to the beach for professional. Ross's playing time with the Trojans was one of the best. When she was a freshman at the school in 2000 she fought her way to Pac-10 and NCAA All-American Freshman of Year honors and earned an All-American. Furthermore, she assisted her Trojans reach the Final Four. During her sophomore year she suffered a tremendous personal tragedy, yet managed to be a second All-American. The two seasons she spent with the Trojans she was instrumental in helping them achieve consecutive championships. Individually she established herself in the history books by winning the Honda Sports Award for 2003-04. The award was presented to the most outstanding female player of the year in America. Ross took a course in International Relations at USC. Unfortunately Ross mom Margie never got to see her daughter rise to the most elite levels of beach volleyball stardom. Margie, Ross's mother, passed away in 2001, when Ross was still a USC sophomore. She had breast cancer. She still holds her mother close to her heart. Margie remains a constant source of inspiration for her, on and off the beach.
